I'm a metal vocalist and bass player, but not necessarily at the same time. I've practiced death growls for years, taking influence from metalcore and deathcore, death metal, as well as sludge/doom metal. Haven't ever growled in front of a crowd but being a metal vocalist is practically a bucket list item now. Also working on my clean vocals too, so very much a work in progress but they exist.
My bass playing developed from an obsession with Muse as a teen, as well as it being the only instrument left in my high school band. Bass is like camouflage - you stay subtle, carry things along and provide that underlying groove. But if you look really closely, bass can pop out and surprise you. |
