Description Experienced guitarist seeks collaborators (on ANY instrument including a percussionist and or drummer, vox plus a lyricist and sound engineer) to create better-than-original-crowd pleasing covers and original music. For me it is about giving life to the numbers and then getting them before an audience… without trying to mimic another artist. As a Plan B, how about making Library Music for adverts, TV theme tunes and film? If I have a dislike, it’s over-engineered digital music and excess compression. This robs instruments of colour and richness. I like late 1960s analogue recordings. Have a listen to the Rolling Stones’ ‘Let it Bleed’ album and ANY Motown recording with James Jamerson playing bass. I’m getting on a bit but the plus side is having been exposed to many genres through a golden age of popular music innovation 1967-2007. I’m in a wonderful 11-piece soul covers band (see Soul-Rites.com) with a brass/woodwind section. Standing in front of them is a dizzying sonic experience; in this new venture wind instruments are especially welcome. A suggested band name which encompasses a starting point is ‘Basement Office’… and an album or stage show ‘500 Words’? I’ve several instrumental pieces which are in search of additions. How about we exchange ideas and pick two of each to get started on?
Instruments Played Guitar Acoustic, Guitar Lead, Guitar Rhythm
Influences Strewth what a question! I’m not sure I can claim to have absorbed any of the genius of the following artists… But likes: The Doors, Burnin’ Red Ivanhoe, Cado Belle, Jeff Beck, James Taylor Quartet, Randy Pie, The Meters, Vulfpek, Toots and the Maytals, Osibisa, The New Mastersounds, The Band, Chrissy Hinds, Duffy, Joni Mitchell, Aretha Franklin, Etta James.
Equipment List US Fender Strat, Gibson ‘BB King’ ES 355, 1960s Italian Eko Violin-shape 6-string semi, Victory V40 Duchess amp, Ported cab with Celestion ‘A’ speaker, A playable prototype of a new form of electric 6-string which I’ve named the ‘Type III Guitar’, Jumbo accoustic 6-string, Dreadnaught acoustic 6-string, Dreadnaught acoustic 12-string, Pedal Board which I tend not to use, UV Lamps.
